FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: A glittering 75th Anniversary Season opener, the Baroque concert

This Chamber opener has 2 performances & features Principal Trumpet, Darcie Bishop

Jackson, Mississippi, September 7, 2019—On Saturday, September 7th at 7:30pm & Sunday, September 8th at 2:00pm, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present the first concert of its Intimate Classics Series, Chamber I: Baroque. Due to the popularity of this series opener, MSO began holding two performances in the 2018-2019 season.

An intimate concert in a magnificent setting, maximizing the acoustically rich surroundings of St. Andrew’s Cathedral in downtown Jackson. Join us as MSO’s longtime Principal Trumpet, Darcie Bishop, leads a toe-tapping exploration of Purcell’s “Sonata for Trumpet & Strings”, and Torelli’s “Sinfonia” in D Major. Also in the lineup is music by French, Italian and German composers, among others. Experience a date night or night with friends like never before!

The MSO Intimate Classics Chamber Series presents four concerts per year in more intimate venues, creating an up close and personal concert experience. Tickets for Chamber I: Baroque are $23 for adults and $5 students & children ages 4-18, when accompanied by a paying adult. Advance tickets may be purchased online at www.msorchestra.com or by calling (601) 960-1565, or by visiting the MSO office at 201 East Pascagoula Street in downtown Jackson between 10am and 4pm, Monday thru Friday. The box office will open at St. Andrew’s Cathedral (305 E. Capitol Street) 6:30pm on the evening of the Saturday concert, and 1:00pm on Sunday afternoon.
