Jackson, Mississippi, September 8, 2018—On Saturday, September 8th at 7:30pm & Sunday, September 9th at 2:00pm, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present the first concert of its Intimate Classics Series, Chamber I: Baroque. Due to the popularity of this series opener, there will be 2 performances held on different days for the first time ever!
A concert that captures golden moments & rides the wind, and maximizes the acoustically rich surroundings of St. Andrew’s Cathedral in downtown Jackson. Experience a date night or night with friends like never before!
Opening the concert is Handel’s “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba” from Solomon. Continuing on with Jean-Philipe Rameau’s Selections from Platèe, followed by Marcello’s “Oboe Concerto in C minor”, featuring MSO’s Principal Oboe, Julie Hudik. Next up is the favorite Pachelbel Canon in D, then Vivaldi’s “Flute Concerto in D Major”, Goldfinch, with Amulet Strange, MSO’s Principal flute. The program will conclude with Bach’s “Orchestral Suite No. 3, BMV 1068” from the famous, beloved Air.
The MSO Intimate Classics Chamber Series presents four concerts per year in more intimate venues, creating an up close and personal concert experience.
