MSO presents The Music of ABBA Saturday, September 22 at Thalia Mara Hall

Jackson, Mississippi, September 20, 2018—On Saturday, September 22nd at 7:30pm, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present the first concert of its popular Pops Series, Pops I: DANCING QUEEN – The Music of ABBA. Iconic and irresistible, these hits conquered charts, hearts, and even Broadway with the musical Mama Mia!

With hundreds of millions of albums sold, some forty years after being formed, the music of ABBA can still be heard - and seen – everywhere! Performing the iconic songs of ABBA in all their pop, rock, dance, and evocative ballad glory, are guest vocalists Katalin Kiss, Andrea Koziol, Stephanie Martin, and Lis Soderberg. In addition to the Jeans ‘n Classics founder, Peter Brennan on guitar, Paul Mutzabaugh on keyboards, Darryl Stacey on electric bass, and Jeff Christmas on drums. The performance lineup includes songs like “Mamma Mia”, “Knowing Me Knowing You”, “Chiquitita”, “Waterloo”, “SOS”, “Fernando”, “Voulez Vous”, “The Winner Takes All”, “Take a Chance on Me”, “Dancing Queen”, and “Gimme Gimme Gimme”.

Not to be confused with a “tribute act”, Toronto-based Jeans ‘n Classics faithfully interprets the music of legendary rock and pop albums and artists, with their own special, signature flair. Now celebrating their 23rd anniversary, Jeans ‘n Classics has performed with over 100 orchestras throughout North America. Vocalist David Blamires declares Jeans ‘n Classics, “An exhilarating, unforgettable evening of the finest symphonic rock & GREAT FUN!”. “We truly LOVE what we do. Our enjoyment onstage and with the orchestra is infectious!” proclaims vocalist Leah Salomaa.
