Perennial Chamber Series favorite to be presented in Brookhaven, Jackson, and Vicksburg.
Jackson, Mississippi, January 15, 2020—The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will perform its ever popular Mozart by Candlelight January 24th – 26th. The all-Mozart concert is made even more fantastic by the enveloping glow of hundreds of candles, generously sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Emerson B. Robinson, Jr., and State Street Group. Mozart’s rich genius works its annual magic in an enchanting evening that features MSO Principal Horn, Mimi Linehan.
This year’s concert opens with the master’s Overture to Idomeneo, followed by Symphony No. 20 in D, K 133. Mimi Linehan shines in the Concerto for Horn No. 3, Eb, K 447, leading into Five Contradances, K 609 “Non piu andrai”. Bringing the concert to a spectacular close is Symphony No. 39 in Eb, K 543. The Jackson concert will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 7:30pm at the Belhaven University Center for the Arts, as part of MSO’s 2019-2020 Intimate Classics Chamber Series. Mozart by Candlelight will also be presented on Friday, January 24th at Haven Theater in Brookhaven, and on Sunday, January 26th at Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Vicksburg.
The MSO Intimate Classics Chamber Series presents four concerts per year in more intimate venues, creating an up close and personal concert experience. Tickets for the Jackson performance of Mozart By Candlelight are $23 for adults and $5 students/children (ages 4-18), when accompanied by a paying adult.
