FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Natural Showcase Weds Music with Stunning Imagery!

Large screens behind the orchestra become a triptych canvas for magnificent panoramic images

Jackson, Mississippi, November 12, 2019—On Saturday, November 23rd at 7:30pm, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present the second concert of its Selby and Richard McRae Foundation Bravo Series, Natural Showcase. Westwater Arts photochoreography puts stunning sights to symphonic swell, making music and photos ‘dance’.

In Bravo II, “Canyonlands” explores landscapes of the American west and southwest to music by Bach, Fauré , Diamond, and Elgar, while Copland’s “Rodeo!” trots out lively scenes from small town rodeos and desert landscape. Westwater Arts’ Creative Director and CEO, Nicholas Bardonnay says: “The music, in a sense, creates an emotional vehicle to interpret the imagery. The depth of “Canyonlands” imparts this kind of epic and mysterious, inspirational quality”, he says, “to scenes from seven national parks that are vast and intimate, arid and lush.” The performance also includes Benjamin Britten’s “Four Sea Interludes” from the opera “Peter Grimes”, and Missy Mazzoli’s “River Rouge Transfiguration”.

The MSO Bravo Series presents five concerts per year, all at Thalia Mara Hall. Tickets for Bravo II: Natural Showcase are $27 & up for adults and $5 for children/students. Advance tickets may be purchased at www.msorchestra.com, by calling (601) 960-1565, or by visiting the MSO office at 201 E.
