Perennial Chamber Series favorite to be presented in Brookhaven, Jackson, and Vicksburg.
Jackson, Mississippi, January 3, 2019—The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will perform its ever popular Mozart by Candlelight January 11th – 13th. The all-Mozart concert is made even more fantastic by the enveloping glow of hundreds of candles, generously sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Emerson B. Robinson, Jr., and State Street Group. Mozart’s rich genius works its annual magic in an enchanting evening that features two chamber works performed by USM Professor and violinist, Stephen Redfield. The performance concludes with the composer’s final and most famous symphonic masterpiece, Jupiter.
This year’s concert opens with the master’s Overture from Apollo et Hyacinth, K. 38, followed by the Divertimento in F Major, K. 138. Stephen Redfield leads the Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major, K. 218, followed by the Adagio in E Major, K. 261. Bringing the concert to a spectacular close is Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 in C Major, K. 552 “Jupiter”. The Jackson concert will be held on Saturday, January 12, 7:30pm at the Belhaven University Center for the Arts, as part of MSO’s 2018-2019 Intimate Classics Chamber Series. Mozart by Candlelight will also be presented on Friday, January 11 at Haven Theater in Brookhaven, and on Sunday, January 13th at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Vicksburg.
The MSO Intimate Classics Chamber Series presents four concerts per year in more intimate venues, creating an up close and personal concert experience.
